Listening Blog #5
For this week's listening blog, I chose to listen to "Sh-Boom" by The Chords. This was one of the only songs we have listened to in this class that I had heard prior to taking this class. Overall, I really like this song and the upbeat nature of it. The vocal styles of the singers was fun to listen to, and it even sounded improvisational at times. I also listened to the version of this song performed by The Crew Cuts, and I have to say the versino performed by The Chords is much better. Maybe it's just because it's the version that I am most familiar with, but I think that it had a much more pleasing sound to it. When we listened to this song in class, I wasn't sure where exactly I had heard the song from, but I knew it sounded familiar. Looking into it a little more, I found out that it is the song played in Disney's ,movie "Cars" when Lightning Mcqueen shows off his display of the fixed neon lights. In my opinion it was the perfect song to play for that scene, and a wonderful way to popularize such a great song.
I chose to do this week's blog on "Sh'boom" too! I also prefer original version by the Chords over the one by the Crew Cuts. The one by the Crew Cuts is slower and has a more mellow vibe compared to the one by The Chords. Furthermore, besides my natural bias towards the Chords' version. It's a lot livelier, upbeat, and just overall more enjoyable to listen to.
