Listening Blog #6
The song I chose to listen to for this week's listening blog was "You Can't Hurry Love" by The Supremes. I chose this song for no other reason than it had a catchy tune that I liked. It was a song I had heard before, although I'm not sure exactly where from. I listened to the song three times critically, and the first time I just focused on the general feeling of the song. It has a happy tune that makes you want to sing along. The second time listening to the song, I paid more attention to the background instruments. I am not super good at discerning instruments, but there was definitely a piano or keyboard in the background, as well as a little rhythmic metallic sound that sounded like it could have been a cymbal. The third time listening to the song, I paid attention to the background singers. They gave the song good layering and did some occasional harmonizing that sounded really good. Overall, I really liked this song and I enjoyed the catchy tune. I also like the message it had of not forcing love and just waiting for it to do its thing.
I definitely agree with you in that “You Can’t Hurry Love” has a very catchy tune. I found myself bouncing my leg to the beat. I also think that the background singers did a very good job of harmonizing. I also agree that the message of the song is really awesome. You really do have to wait and be patient for love.
